Be careful where you shop for prepared foods.

According to the New York Times, every year one quarter of the US population gets sick from food, and 300,000 of those people are hospitalized. Some of those illnesses result from unsafe food preparation

The following violations were found at Remke Markets in the past 2 years (4/1/07 – 4/1/09)

-“Fish thawed in standing water should be thawed under running water in meat department” - Crescent Springs, 5/11/07

-“Deli microwave with food debris accumulation; Slicer in meat dept soiled” - Taylor Mill, 3/16/09

-“Hand sink was blocked in the produce department. Hands must be accessible for washing at all times” (critical) - Taylor Mill 2/18/08

-“Non-chlorine based sanitizing solution not used in accordance with label directions. Ammonia solution needed for deli department.” (Critical) - Crescent Springs, 8/4/08

Critical violations are usually corrected at the time of inspection, or within 10 days on a follow-up inspection. Non-critical violations are sometimes corrected at time of ispection, or before next regular inspection
